Facebook friends: Joy

This took quite a while, and was not my first attempt. Using a photo on my phone,
I started with charcoal and water but had problems controlling the contrast.
This is 2b pencil and erasers.
I shaded the page in a mid tone, used a rubber to lighten the highlights and more pressure with the pencil to add shadows.
My next step is to work on capturing the emotion, Joy is showing real joy in the photo, less so in my sketch.
